ABOUT ME

A 'late starter' to art I have fast-tracked my education by immersing myself in courses, books, workshops and LOTS of studio time.  At this stage I feel I've caught up to those who started in school, when I was doing languages and maths.

I do have some tertiary qualifications, having done four years of Fine Arts at a Technical College, as well as three years Studio Ceramics, and a year of Glaze Technology. My passion for things creative meant I passed with flying colours.

I began as a painter, but took up pottery to help pay for art supplies.  It worked!  My ceramics proved so popular that it became too time-consuming.  I have recently given up clay in favour of paint, my first love.

All that behind me I now can't let a day go by without spending some time in the studio. I reckon it's 'brush mileage' that counts.

I've travelled the journey from traditional and representational oils, through more expressive acrylics, to abstract mixed media.  Collage figures high on my list of favourite mediums these days.

My art is shown in several local galleries, via collaborative exhibitions, and in juried competitions.  Sales and awards validate my work, tho' that is not my prime motivation.

It has been a source of great satisfaction that I now have work in collections in many countries.
